Me:  Audrey, do you want to go to Florence?

Audrey: No.

Me to Mark:  She says no to everything.  Watch.

Me to Audrey:  Do you want a lollipop?

Audrey:  [pause]  Sure.

Well, most of the time.

A family growing…

When I was pregnant with Audrey somehow the song Positive Friction became our soundtrack.  I don’t know if one song can be a soundtrack.  Maybe it was our theme song.  We spent many a drives listening to it on repeat, singing it out loud, dancing & dreaming of our little growing family.  There was this one favorite line then– “there’s a family growing, I can see it with my own two eyes.”  It was our dorky, sentimental motto.  We still love the song.  It’ll always be our Audrey song.  Still we dance and sing when we listen, which we do often, and the other night for the first time the three of us listened to it playing loud in the den and danced before bedtime.  And now, there is another part, a theme for now- “we have our own heroes, they’re dancing in the living room.”  There we were.  I love it.  Still.  And all over again.

I guess what we didn’t realize two years ago, listening with just dreams in our heart, is that this little family of ours, from then on, would always be growing.  We can see it with our own two eyes.
